Title: Sourcing Team Assistant – Color Development and Production
Reports to: Director of Sourcing
Position Summary: The Sourcing Team Assistant supports the Fabric Sourcing Team. The position includes production header approval, lab dip approval, maintaining the color standard library, shade band creation and maintenance, color development, as well as day-to-day tasks, organization, filing, and data entry. This position requires close collaborative partnerships with Design, Product Development, Merchandising, QA, and Purchasing teams.
Quality: Reviews lab dips and fabric production bulk headers from fabric mills for all new fabrics and color for color consistency, ensures it meets quality standards and stretch expectations. Sends daily approval or rejection emails.
Technical Skills: Analyzes raw materials sent from mills to compare to internal MT color standard, pantone colors, multiple lighting situations, and other fabrics in corresponding color. Requires a “0” on Farnsworth-Munsell 100 Hue Test Results.
Collaboration: Manages relationships internally and externally and builds partnerships that contribute to the success of the company and suppliers.
Communication: Provides color comments to the mills and record comments in our internal tracking system. Works cross-functionally with teams in Design, Product Development, Merchandising, QA, and Purchasing.
Timeline Management: Assists with meeting color related deadlines.
Bachelor’s degree in Textile and Apparel Management or Marketing and Merchandising (or related field)
1+ years of professional experience in the textile or fashion industry - preferably in color management or fabric development.
Strong understanding of textile and garment manufacturing.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office
Strong work ethic and ability to work independently, multitask, and manage time
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, and collaborative team environment; flexible and adaptable to change
Must align in value system professionally and personally with the culture of Weissman
Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function
