Senior Copywriter

Position Summary and Objective: The Sr. Copywriter, a key member of the Creative team within the Marketing department, is responsible for creating all copy appearing in marketing, advertising, sales collateral and websites while pushing the boundaries of creative excellence. This position reports to, and will work closely with the Creative Director and the marketing team to transform compelling and imaginative concepts into successful and effective advertising that delineates, defines and expresses our brand “voice” for both our B2C and B2B divisions.


● Develop content across brands that is enriching, meaningful, targeted and resonates with the consumer to compel action

● Produce copy (or manage the production of copy) for a variety of work across all media (print, direct mail, digital, social and more)

● Copy responsibilities vary widely and include producing creative headlines, picture captions, industry articles, SEO content, calls to action, email, social and web copy, advertising and branding copy, business letters, technical copy, product copy blocks

● Uses a strategic and organized mindset to clearly focus on consumer engagement; work with other marketing team members to test headlines, subject lines and other forms to find the most effective copy

● Serves as a catalyst for consumer activation by writing headlines, calls to action and content that motivates our buyers to engage with our brands

● Mentor and manage a junior copywriter, providing regular coaching, feedback and professional development

● Raise questions of accuracy, content and taste

● Evolve our copy standards and style guide to standardize and enforce consistent brand copy. Edit according to AP and company style

● Manage workflow to ensure accurate content is published on deadline. Traffic all copy through production including potential freelance copywriters and copy proofreaders

● Serve as the authority on grammar and punctuation, and maintain meticulous attention to consistency and accuracy. Edit, fact check and proofread all copy; review final copy for pre-production


● Strong conceptual thinking and highly developed copywriting skills; confidence to push the boundaries of creative excellence; skilled with words and understands the power of a good story

● Retail advertising background a plus; must have the versatility to shift from sophisticated, clever wordplay for headlines to product selling copy that clearly states features and benefits

● Strong interpersonal skills; a team player, positive and innovative thinker; must work well with creative and core team members to achieve marketing goals

● Expert-level knowledge of AP style, grammar and punctuation rules

● Ability to produce copy quickly and with high quality for several assignments simultaneously to meet tight deadlines

● Ability to work directly in InDesign creative files and knowledge of Mac OSX platform

● Familiarity with Asana, Google Enterprise and Ziflow is a plus

● Bachelor's degree in Communications, English or Journalism

● 7+ years of experience within a related industry working as a Copywriter, Editor, and/or Proofreader
