Job Description: Planning

Internship: Summer 2023

 

Our Weissman Summer Internship is a 10

week program based in our St. Louis office. Participants of our intern program

will gain valuable hands-on experience to include, but not limited to, industry

training, cross-functional departmental exposure, and a final project

presentation at the end of the summer.

Position Summary: Weissman Intern is responsible for providing administrative assistance and organizational support to the corresponding department. Interns are assigned a mentor within the department to collaborate with throughout the program. Interns have a primary focus on completing a project with partners from cross-functional teams. At the end of the summer, the final project will be presented to the leadership team. After successful completion of the internship, there is an opportunity to become eligible for full-time employment.

Planning Intern Responsibilities:

Internship Project:  Works closely with cross-functional interns to develop a costume or dancewear garments for our line that reflects the Weissman brand. This project will include analyzing similar end use styles to determine a fiscal year forecast, inputting style information and creating a PO to cover anticipated demand, working with vendors and tracking the style from production to transportation to our door.


Forecasting: Assist in the upkeep of fiscal year style forecasts by analyzing genre/style based curves as well as individual selling by color/size.


Projects: Partner with the team to complete various projects and day to day tasks, including the finalization of our fiscal year Merchandising Financial Plan.


Managing Timelines: Meet all internal Planning and internship curriculum deadlines.  Present final design project at conclusion of internship with cross-functional partners.


Skills & Expertise: 

Critical thinking and technical skills: Basic understanding of how to analyze historical data to forecast new and repeat styles and have control over inventory management.

    

Detail Oriented: Ability to focus and execute tasks with accuracy as well as stay organized and on task.

     

Team Player: Works well in a collaborative team environment where diverse ideas and points of view add value. An active contributor amongst team members.

    

Flexibility:  Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment. Possess a strong work ethic with the ability to multitask, problem solve, and generate new ideas while being adaptable to change.

       

Excellent Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Able to communicate with colleagues with respectful behavior and a positive attitude. 

     

Strong Computer Skills: Proficient in excel and Google

 

Qualifications:   

Currently enrolled in a college or university; sophomore year or above.

    

Working towards a degree in Fashion/Apparel Design, Fashion Merchandising, Retail and Supply Chain Management or related field

   

Ability to relocate to St. Louis, Missouri for the summer.

     

Knowledge of dance or activewear is a plus.

      

Availably to participate in our full-time internship program from the end of May/June to August 2023.  Work Hours: Monday-Friday 8:30am-5pm.

    

Eligible to work in the US without restrictions.
