Dye Sublimation Print Room Supervisor


Reporting to the VP of Production, the Dye Sublimation Print Room Supervisor is the central coordinating figure for the sublimation department. The Print Room Supervisor is responsible for coordinating orders to meet production timelines, managing color management workflow to produce and reproduce accurate color and ensuring proper maintenance of the dye sublimation printers and heat-press machine.

The individual will also play a key role in the identification and formulation of additional personalization and customization business development opportunities to increase product offering and drive market share.


Coordinate Dye Sub Production

Review and prep art files using RIP software

Determine sizes and quantities for orders, and nest print graphics accordingly

Run production orders on printer

Direct heat pressing department and provide instructions and direction on orders

Choose appropriate fabrics, print settings, and press settings

Print, press, and view swatches until appropriate match is found

Annotate and catalog the approved, and pending color submits

Create a print kit with pre-production strike offs and printer/press annotation

Re-calibrate colors in the event of a variable change such as a print head replacement

Perform Daily Printer maintenance

Regularly clean around print heads and capping stations, drain waste ink

Change out exhausted transfer paper rolls and refill ink tanks

Maintain adequate ink, paper and printer supplies inventory

Maintain consistent temperature and humidity of print room

Perform regular print feed adjustments and periodic uni/bi-directional alignments

Create efficiencies and production workflows to accommodate a fast paced, growing workload

Coach, mentor, and cross-train employees

Work in conjunction with the Graphic Art team, Cutting Room and Sewing Floor to make sure all jobs stay on schedule.


At least two years’ experience in dye sublimation production or similar print industry position

Strong Adobe Illustrator skills

Familiarity with RIP software

Flexible attitude; can change priorities quickly

Strong organizational skills

Exhibit proactive, solution-oriented thinking and execution combined with problem solving and decision making ability

Working knowledge of apparel, manufacturing & costing

Ability to build positive working relationships through strong communication skills and excellent internal and external customer service

Extensive knowledge of the heat press transfer process

Physical Demands:

Standing for a minimum of 8 hours per day

Frequent bending, twisting, crouching, pulling, pushing, and/or reaching to access job-related materials

Frequent lifting and moving items weighing up to 75 pounds

Extensive walking within a typical production environment
